IKEA Alex drawer insert tray for pens and tools
A modular tray that sits in the shallow top drawer of an IKEA Alex unit and gives pens, markers, USB sticks and small tools their own compartments. The Alex drawer interior is roughly 300 mm wide by 450 mm deep and 55 mm tall, so the tray is 296 by 220 mm and 40 mm high, leaving space for a second tray or loose items behind it. Compartments are 1.2 mm dividers on a 2 mm floor with scooped fronts to lift pens out easily. Print it flat; a 0.6 mm nozzle finishes it in about two hours.
Because drawer interiors vary between the Alex on castors, the six-drawer tower and older versions, a tray generated from your own measurements sits flush rather than sliding. In SpeakCAD you describe the drawer and what goes in it, preview the tray in the browser for nothing, resize compartments in the chat and download the STL or 3MF.
Model a drawer insert tray 296 mm wide, 220 mm deep and 40 mm tall for an IKEA Alex drawer with a 2 mm floor and 1.2 mm dividers forming two pen channels 35 mm wide, one 60 mm bay and a grid of six 45 x 45 mm pockets, with 10 mm scooped fronts on the pen channels.
