Creality Ender-3 V3 SE vs V3 KE: is the KE worth $80 more?

The Ender-3 V3 SE ($199 at launch) and V3 KE ($279) share the frame, the 220 mm bed and the Sprite direct-drive extruder. The KE runs Creality OS, a Klipper-based system with input shaping, 500 mm/s ratings, Wi-Fi, a 4.3-inch touchscreen and a web page you can upload to from a phone; the SE has a knob screen, an SD card slot and classic speeds. The $80 buys speed and networking; the SE buys the same parts more slowly.
The short version

Who should buy which

Both printers are in SpeakCAD's slicer catalog with their official OrcaSlicer profiles, so this page has no printer to sell you. The numbers in the table come from those profiles; the prices are the makers' launch prices, and prices moved in 2025 and differ by region.
1

Buy the Ender-3 V3 SE if…

You want the cheapest printer that works, print one part at a time from an SD card and do not care about speed or Wi-Fi.
2

Buy the Ender-3 V3 KE if…

You want Klipper speed, a touchscreen, Wi-Fi and uploads from a phone browser over the LAN, and $80 is within budget.
3

Either way, the first custom part

Describe it with its measurements, check it on a virtual bed the size of the printer you chose, and download G-code for the Ender-3 V3 SE or G-code for the Ender-3 V3 KE, sliced with its official profile. The first render usually appears within a minute or two: a new part gets deeper reasoning through the geometry, and small edits land in seconds.

The same printer, two brains

Both have the Sprite direct drive, automatic levelling, a spring-steel sheet and the 220 mm bed (the KE's profile is 245 mm tall against the SE's 250 mm). The KE swaps the SE's Marlin board and knob screen for a Klipper-based system with a touchscreen, Wi-Fi and a 300 °C hotend.

Where the KE wins

  • Speed and finish: input shaping lets it print two to three times faster with clean walls.
  • Network: Wi-Fi, the Creality Cloud app and a Klipper-style web page on the LAN that takes a G-code file from a phone browser.
  • Screen: a 4.3-inch touchscreen.
  • Hotend: 300 °C for PETG, ASA and engineering blends.
  • Optional camera.

Where the SE wins

  • Price: $199 against $279 at launch.
  • Simplicity: no network, no account, nothing to update.
  • Height: 250 mm against 245 mm in the profiles.

What both give up

No enclosure, no multi-material, no camera on the SE. Both are open-frame bed slingers that need desk depth.

Prices

Launch prices above; Creality changed prices in 2025 and they vary by region.

Verdict

The KE is worth the extra for almost everyone: speed, Wi-Fi and the web page change how the printer fits into a week. The SE is the right choice when $199 is the number.

Sliced for either one

SpeakCAD ships the OrcaSlicer profiles of the Creality Ender-3 V3 SE and the Creality Ender-3 V3 KE, like 380+ other printers. Describe a part in plain English on a phone or a computer, watch it render on a virtual bed of the size above, change it by chat, and download G-code for the Ender-3 V3 SE or G-code for the Ender-3 V3 KE, with the print time and filament weight. The STL and 3MF are always there for your own slicer. The Creality Ender-3 V3 SE and Creality Ender-3 V3 KE pages have prompts sized for each bed and the library parts made for them.

Questions

It runs Creality OS, which is built on Klipper and exposes a Klipper-style web page on the network. It is not stock Klipper: the vendor controls updates, though root access is available.

Creality sells add-on network boxes, and third-party options exist, but by the time you have bought one the KE is the cheaper path.

With the same settings, the same. The KE keeps that quality at higher speeds because of input shaping; the SE shows ringing if pushed.

Yes, both, with the OrcaSlicer profile each maker ships: G-code for the Ender-3 V3 SE and G-code for the Ender-3 V3 KE, or an STL or 3MF for your own slicer. The bed sizes in the table are the ones the viewer shows while you design.

Whichever you choose, the first part is a sentence away

Describe the part with its measurements, check it on the Ender-3 V3 SE's or the Ender-3 V3 KE's bed, and download it sliced.
