Bambu Lab P1P vs P1S: is the enclosure worth it?
The P1P and P1S are the same printer: same CoreXY motion, same 256 x 256 mm bed, same hotend and speeds, same AMS support. The P1S adds the enclosure panels and glass top, an activated-carbon filter, a chamber fan and an auxiliary part-cooling fan. The enclosure is what makes ABS and ASA practical and the printer quieter; P1P owners print PLA and PETG and often add printed or acrylic panels themselves. Buy the P1S unless you are sure you will never print ABS.Who should buy which
Both printers are in SpeakCAD's slicer catalog with their official OrcaSlicer profiles, so this page has no printer to sell you. The numbers in the table come from those profiles; the prices are the makers' launch prices, and prices moved in 2025 and differ by region.Buy the P1S if…
You want ABS and ASA to just work, less noise, filtered fumes and the auxiliary fan for PLA at speed, and you do not want to build an enclosure.Either way, the first custom part
Describe it with its measurements, check it on a virtual bed the size of the printer you chose, and download a sliced .gcode.3mf for the P1P or a sliced .gcode.3mf for the P1S, sliced with its official profile. The first render usually appears within a minute or two: a new part gets deeper reasoning through the geometry, and small edits land in seconds.Bambu Lab P1P vs Bambu Lab P1S: the numbers

Motion system, bed size and hotend are the same, and the profiles are nearly the same. Print quality on PLA is identical with the same settings.
What the P1S adds
- Enclosure: panels and a glass top. ABS and ASA warp less and smell less; the printer is quieter.
- Carbon filter and chamber fan.
- Auxiliary part-cooling fan, which helps PLA overhangs at speed.
- A small price difference compared with buying panels later.
What the P1P keeps
- Price: launched at $699 in December 2022 and has sold below the P1S since the P1S arrived.
- Airflow for PLA: open frames shed heat; no door to leave open.
- The project: MakerWorld is full of printed panel sets and hinges, which is how many P1Ps became enclosed.
What both give up
Neither has a heated chamber, a touchscreen or a high-frame-rate camera. Both need Bambu Studio or the microSD card for a file made on a phone.
Prices
The P1S launched at $699 and $949 with the AMS (July 2023); the P1P at $699 (December 2022) and less since. Check the store: prices moved in 2025 and differ by region.
Verdict
The P1S is the better buy for almost everyone: the enclosure, filter and auxiliary fan cost less as a bundle than as a project. The P1P is the right pick when the budget is tight and the filament is PLA.
Sliced for either one
SpeakCAD ships the OrcaSlicer profiles of the Bambu Lab P1P and the Bambu Lab P1S, like 380+ other printers. Describe a part in plain English on a phone or a computer, watch it render on a virtual bed of the size above, change it by chat, and download a sliced .gcode.3mf for the P1P or a sliced .gcode.3mf for the P1S, with the print time and filament weight. The STL and 3MF are always there for your own slicer. The Bambu Lab P1P and Bambu Lab P1S pages have prompts sized for each bed and the library parts made for them.
Questions
Mostly: printed or acrylic panels and a top make it an enclosed printer, and Bambu sells the auxiliary fan. You will not get the exact P1S sound or fit, but ABS becomes practical.
No. Same motion system, same profiles. With PLA in a warm room the P1P's open frame can be an advantage; with ABS the P1S's enclosure is.
Yes, the same AMS, up to four units.
Yes, both, with the OrcaSlicer profile each maker ships: a sliced .gcode.3mf for the P1P and a sliced .gcode.3mf for the P1S, or an STL or 3MF for your own slicer. The bed sizes in the table are the ones the viewer shows while you design.
