Design a part that fits, for a class project or your own
Measure what the part must fit, describe it, check the sizes, print it. Your teacher can give you a seat (25 credits a month for the AI and every download included); without one, a free account lets you shape parts by hand with the hand tools.Three ways to start

Create a free account and shape parts by hand: holes, cuts, added shapes, text, rounded corners, every size typed in millimetres. The hand tools spend nothing.Projects students start with

Designing a part that fits is measuring, choosing a gap, checking and changing. The AI gives you a first version; you check every size it picked against the object on your desk, change what is wrong by tapping a face and typing a number, and print. Start with how to measure an object and how much clearance to leave.
On a Chromebook or a phone
Everything runs in the browser: the school's Chromebook, your laptop, an iPad or your phone on the bus. Your models are saved to your account and stay private unless you publish them.
If you leave the class
Your account, your models and the credits already on it stay yours. Downloads are no longer included, and you can keep designing by hand or take a plan of your own.
Questions
No. Any e-mail address works, and a student who already has a SpeakCAD account joins with it. The teacher can also invite students by e-mail: each invitation holds a seat until it is accepted.
They keep their account, their models and the credits already on it; downloads are no longer included and they can keep designing by hand or take a plan of their own. The teacher frees the seat from the class page, or the student leaves from their plan page.
25 credits a month is about 6 new parts designed by the AI (4 credits each, the first 3 small changes of a part free), or many more changes: a small change spends 2 credits, a size or a number 1 credit. Shaping by hand with the hand tools spends nothing. Credits land on the student's own account on the first day of every billing month; unused ones stay.
Tinkercad is a great first contact with 3D shapes, especially for young children, and it stays free. SpeakCAD is for the next step: a part with real dimensions that fits something, designed by describing it to the AI or with hand tools where every size is typed in millimetres, on a Chromebook or a phone, then sliced for the school's printer in the same browser tab. Many classes use both.
