# Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W case, 3D printed: 65 x 30 mm, the 58 x 23 mm holes and a slim snap case

> Exact Zero 2 W dimensions, the mini HDMI and micro USB positions, camera ribbon exits, and a prompt for a snap-fit case only 14 mm tall.

## Dimensions

| Measurement | Value |
|---|---|
| Board outline | 65 x 30 mm, 3 mm corner radius |
| Mounting holes | 4 x 2.75 mm on a 58 x 23 mm pattern, 3.5 mm from the edges |
| Mini HDMI | Long edge, centred about 12.4 mm from the corner |
| Micro USB (data) | Long edge, about 41.4 mm from the same corner |
| Micro USB (power) | Long edge, about 54 mm from the same corner |
| microSD | Short edge |
| Camera connector | Opposite short edge, 22-pin FPC |
| GPIO | 40-pin header along the other long edge, unpopulated on the standard board |
| Tallest component | About 5 mm bare, 8.5 mm with a soldered header |

The Zero 2 W and the original Zero W share this footprint; the Zero 2 W runs hotter and benefits from a few vent holes over the SoC.

## The slim case

With no header, the whole case can be 14 mm tall outside. Use 2.5 mm locating pegs instead of screws (the holes are 2.75 mm) and the board drops in and stays put under the lid.

> **Prompt** A slim two-part snap-fit case for a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, board 65 x 30 mm with four 2.75 mm holes on a 58 x 23 mm pattern 3.5 mm from the edges. 2.5 mm locating pegs, 1.6 mm walls, 0.5 mm clearance, 9 mm internal height. Cutouts on the long edge for mini HDMI at 12.4 mm and micro USB at 41.4 and 54 mm from the corner, a microSD slot on the short edge, 2 mm vent holes in the lid over the SoC. Outer size about 70 x 35 x 14 mm.

## With a header, a pHAT or a camera

- **Header soldered.** Add "12 mm internal height and a 52 x 6 mm slot in the lid above the GPIO header".
- **pHAT on top.** Add "22 mm internal height, the lid open above the pHAT".
- **Camera.** Add "a 17 x 2 mm slot on the short edge for the camera ribbon" and, if the camera mounts on the case, "a 25 x 24 mm camera module recess on the lid with 2 mm holes on a 21 x 12.5 mm pattern".

## Where a Zero ends up

Behind a TV, inside a retro handheld, in a birdhouse, on a 3D printer as an OctoPrint host. Each wants a different mount: a strap slot, a lanyard hole, two keyholes, a 1/4-20 tripod thread. Name the mount and it becomes part of the case.

## Library part

The [Pi Zero 2 W slim snap-fit case](/library/raspberry-pi-zero-2-w-slim-snap-case) opens pre-filled, GPIO slot included.

## FAQ

### Do the Zero W and Zero 2 W use the same case?

Yes, the outline, holes and ports are identical. The Zero 2 W runs warmer, so add a few vent holes over the processor.

### Can the case hold the camera too?

Yes. Ask for a camera module recess on the lid or front face with the module's 21 x 12.5 mm hole pattern and a ribbon slot. The Camera Module 3 is 25 x 24 mm.

### Pegs or screws?

Pegs for a slim case that is opened rarely: 2.5 mm pegs in the 2.75 mm holes locate the board and the lid keeps it down. Screws (M2.5 into 4 mm standoffs) when the case is mounted upside down or gets shaken.

## About SpeakCAD

SpeakCAD is the most intuitive CAD for 3D printing, made for people who own a 3D printer and need a part that fits something they have: tap a face and type a size to shape it with simple tools, or describe it to the AI, on your phone or computer, and download a print-ready STL, 3MF or G-code sliced for your printer.

SpeakCAD works inside ChatGPT and Claude as a plugin (an MCP server): ask the assistant for a part with its measurements and SpeakCAD's own CAD AI designs it, shows it in 3D in the chat and hands over a print-ready STL, 3MF or G-code sliced for your printer.
