# Get an ESP32 or Raspberry Pi enclosure printed without owning a printer

> Design a case that fits your board's ports and holes, then have it printed and delivered: $9.99 for one, $3.90 each for a run of ten, plus shipping.

The board works on the bench, and now it needs a case: one for the prototype on your desk, or ten for the sensors around the house. A printed enclosure that fits the board's ports is the classic 3D-printing job, and you do not need a printer for it.

## Design the case around the board

Describe the board and the case in the editor, with the numbers from the board's datasheet:

> An enclosure for an ESP32 DevKit (52 × 28 mm board), 2 mm walls, a USB-C cutout on the short side, vents on both long sides, four M2.5 standoffs, and a snap lid.

The case renders in under a minute. Check it in 3D: the USB cutout lines up with the connector, the standoffs sit under the board's holes, the lid lip is on the right side. Move a cutout or resize it by telling the AI, or with the hand tools (a cut where you tap, typed in millimetres). Each AI request spends 2 credits; changes by hand are free.

## Choose the plastic

PLA is fine for a case that stays indoors. Choose PETG when a voltage regulator or a power stage gets warm inside the box, or when the case goes outside: PLA softens around 50 to 60 °C. More in [PLA or PETG](/blog/pla-or-petg-ordered-print).

## Order one, then the run

Press Download, then "Print it for me". The case is sliced on a print-farm printer and priced, with tracked shipping once per order:

| Order, PLA | United States | Euro area |
|---|---|---|
| 1 × ESP32 enclosure with snap lid | $9.99 + $9.00 shipping | €10.99 + €9.00 shipping |
| 10 × ESP32 enclosure with snap lid | $38.99 ($3.90 each, 61% less) + $15.00 shipping | €32.99 (€3.30 each, 70% less) + €10.00 shipping |

Order one first, put the board in, check the lid closes and the cable goes in, then order the run of ten or more. Up to 100 per order.

## Tolerances for a case someone else prints

A print farm's printer is well tuned, but every printer leaves holes slightly small and lips slightly thick. Give the board 0.5 mm of room on each side, the snap lid 0.2 to 0.3 mm of play, and cutouts 1 mm more than the connector. The [ESP32 enclosure guide](/blog/esp32-enclosure-3d-print) gives the board-specific numbers.

Made to order, so it can't be returned; if we can't deliver it, or it arrives broken, the full price comes back as SpeakCAD credits.

## FAQ

### Can I get a custom electronics enclosure printed without a printer?

Yes. Design the enclosure around your board in SpeakCAD and press Print it for me: a print farm prints it and ships it to you. One ESP32 case is about $9.99 plus $9.00 shipping in the United States.

## About SpeakCAD

SpeakCAD is the most intuitive CAD for 3D printing: tap a face and type a size to shape a part with simple tools, or describe it to the AI, on your phone or computer, and download a print-ready STL, 3MF or G-code sliced for your printer.

SpeakCAD works inside ChatGPT and Claude as a plugin (an MCP server): ask the assistant for a part with its measurements and SpeakCAD's own CAD AI designs it, shows it in 3D in the chat and hands over a print-ready STL, 3MF or G-code sliced for your printer.
