# Best enclosed 3D printer in 2026, by budget

> Best enclosed 3D printers by budget, from the Centauri Carbon to the H2D: which have a passive chamber, which a heated one, and which filaments need which.

## The short answer

The best enclosed 3D printer for most people is the [Bambu Lab P1S](/printers/bambu-lab-p1s): a passive chamber, an auxiliary cooling fan, a carbon filter and the AMS option, for a $699 launch price. On a budget, the [Elegoo Centauri Carbon](/printers/elegoo-centauri-carbon) (launched at $299) gives you an enclosure and a hardened nozzle for less than half that, and the [Qidi Q1 Pro](/printers/qidi-q1-pro) (launched at $449) is the cheapest printer here with an actively heated chamber. For engineering filaments, large ABS or ASA parts, or nylon, step up to the [Prusa CORE One](/printers/prusa-core-one), the [Bambu Lab X1 Carbon](/printers/bambu-lab-x1-carbon), the [Creality K2 Plus](/printers/creality-k2-plus) or the [Bambu Lab H2D](/printers/bambu-lab-h2d).

## Passive chamber or heated chamber

An enclosure does two jobs: it keeps the air around the part warm and still, so ABS, ASA, polycarbonate and nylon do not warp or crack between layers, and it keeps fumes in (and, with a filter, out of the room). PLA, PETG and TPU print fine on an open printer and need none of this; many owners leave the door open for PLA so the part cools properly.

A **passive chamber** is warmed only by the bed and the hotend. That is enough for small and medium ABS and ASA parts on every enclosed printer here. A **heated chamber** has its own heater and holds a set temperature: 60 °C on the Q1 Pro and the K2 Plus, 65 °C on the H2D. It matters for large ABS and ASA parts, where the corners of a 200 mm part cool and lift long before the print finishes, and for nylon and PA-CF, the most warp-prone filaments in common use. The CORE One sits in between: a passive chamber that reaches about 55 °C, with a controlled exhaust fan to hold it there.

| Filament | Open printer | Passive chamber | Heated chamber |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLA, PETG, TPU | Fine | Fine (door open for PLA) | Not needed |
| ABS, ASA, small parts | Warps, fumes | Good | Good |
| ABS, ASA, large parts | Poor | Risky | Good |
| PC, PA, PA-CF | Poor | Fair for small parts | Good |

## Under $500 at launch

### Elegoo Centauri Carbon

A 256 mm cube, a hardened nozzle and extruder gears, a hotend to 320 °C, a camera, an air filter, a touchscreen and Wi-Fi, for $299 at launch. It slices in ElegooSlicer, an OrcaSlicer fork. **For:** anyone who wants ASA and carbon-fibre filament on a first enclosed printer. **You give up:** multi-colour (a single nozzle, no box at launch) and a heated chamber. Compared with the [K1C](/printers/compare/creality-k1c-vs-elegoo-centauri-carbon) and the [Kobra S1](/printers/compare/elegoo-centauri-carbon-vs-anycubic-kobra-s1).

### Anycubic Kobra S1

An enclosed CoreXY with a 250 mm cube, a hotend to 320 °C, a camera and a touchscreen, launched around $420 alone or $550 as the Combo with the ACE Pro, the four-spool box that also dries filament. **For:** enclosed multi-colour at the lowest price on this list. **You give up:** a passive chamber, a profile for a single 0.4 mm nozzle, and a workflow that leans on the Anycubic app. See [Kobra S1 vs P1S](/printers/compare/anycubic-kobra-s1-vs-bambu-lab-p1s).

### Qidi Q1 Pro

The Q1 Pro launched at $449 with a chamber heated to 60 °C, a hardened nozzle, a camera and a 5-inch touchscreen on a 245 x 245 x 240 mm bed. It is Klipper-based with a Fluidd web page, so a phone browser can upload to it. **For:** ABS, ASA and nylon on a budget; it is the cheapest heated chamber here by a wide margin. **You give up:** a little bed size, and the multi-colour Qidi Box was only announced in 2025. See [Q1 Pro vs P1S](/printers/compare/qidi-q1-pro-vs-bambu-lab-p1s).

## $500 to $1,000 at launch

### Creality K1C

A 220 x 220 x 250 mm enclosed CoreXY, launched at $559, with a hardened "unicorn" quick-swap nozzle, a clog-resistant extruder for carbon-fibre filament, a hotend to 300 °C, an AI camera, an air filter, Creality OS and a quoted 600 mm/s. **For:** carbon-fibre filament in a compact machine. **You give up:** the smallest bed here, and a passive chamber. See [P1S vs K1C](/printers/compare/bambu-lab-p1s-vs-creality-k1c).

### Bambu Lab P1S

The P1S is the enclosed printer most people end up with: a 256 x 256 x 250 mm bed, an auxiliary part-cooling fan, an activated-carbon filter, a 300 °C hotend, a quoted 500 mm/s and the AMS (4 spools, up to 16 with four units). It launched at $699, or $949 with the AMS. **For:** PLA, PETG, ABS and ASA with the least setup, and multi-colour. **You give up:** a small non-touch screen, a low-frame-rate camera, a stainless nozzle as standard (hardened is optional) and a passive chamber. [P1S vs X1 Carbon](/printers/compare/bambu-lab-p1s-vs-x1-carbon) and [P1P vs P1S](/printers/compare/bambu-lab-p1p-vs-p1s) show what each step up or down changes.

### Prusa CORE One

The CORE One launched at $949 as a kit and $1,199 assembled: a 250 x 220 x 270 mm enclosed CoreXY with the Nextruder, a passive chamber that reaches about 55 °C with a controlled exhaust fan, open-source hardware and firmware, and a conversion kit from the MK4S. It is built for ASA, PC and PA. **For:** engineering filaments on an open, repairable platform. **You give up:** the camera is optional and there is no built-in multi-colour unit. See [P1S vs CORE One](/printers/compare/bambu-lab-p1s-vs-prusa-core-one) and [MK4S vs CORE One](/printers/compare/prusa-mk4s-vs-prusa-core-one).

## Over $1,000 at launch

### Bambu Lab X1 Carbon

The P1S frame with a hardened steel nozzle and extruder gears as standard, lidar first-layer inspection, AI spaghetti detection, a 5-inch touchscreen, a 1080p camera and a chamber temperature sensor. It launched at $1,199, or $1,449 with the AMS. **For:** carbon- and glass-fibre filaments out of the box, and unattended printing. **You give up:** the chamber is still passive. [Voron 2.4 vs X1 Carbon](/printers/compare/voron-2-4-vs-bambu-lab-x1-carbon) is for people considering building instead.

### Creality K2 Plus

A 350 x 350 x 350 mm enclosed CoreXY with a chamber heated to 60 °C, a hotend to 350 °C, a quoted 600 mm/s and the CFS multi-colour box (4 spools per box, up to 16). It launched in late 2024 in the $1,100 to $1,300 range depending on the CFS bundle. **For:** large ABS and ASA parts, and multi-colour at that size. **You give up:** desk space, and a single-nozzle system at this size means a lot of purge waste on colour changes. See [SV08 vs K2 Plus](/printers/compare/sovol-sv08-vs-creality-k2-plus) and [H2D vs K2 Plus](/printers/compare/bambu-lab-h2d-vs-creality-k2-plus).

### Bambu Lab H2D

Two nozzles, a chamber heated to 65 °C, a hotend to 350 °C and a 350 x 320 x 325 mm bed (the dual-nozzle area is a little narrower in X), launched in March 2025 at $1,899, or $2,399 with the AMS 2 Pro. The second nozzle means soluble or breakaway supports without purge waste. **For:** engineering filaments, large parts and two-material prints in one machine. **You give up:** the price, and optional laser and cutter modules you may never use. See [H2D vs Prusa XL](/printers/compare/bambu-lab-h2d-vs-prusa-xl).

## What to check on an enclosed printer

- **Heater or no heater.** Passive is fine for small ABS and ASA; large parts and nylon want a heater.
- **Filter.** The P1S, X1 Carbon, K1C and Centauri Carbon list one; it makes a difference in a bedroom or an office.
- **Hotend temperature and nozzle.** PC and PA-CF want 300 °C or more and a hardened nozzle; the Centauri Carbon, Q1 Pro, K1C and X1 Carbon include one, the P1S offers it as an option.
- **Multi-colour path.** AMS, ACE Pro and CFS purge at each change; the H2D's second nozzle does not.
- **The lid and the door.** For PLA you will want to open them.

## Your first part in the enclosure

Every printer here is in [SpeakCAD's catalog of 380+ printers](/printers) with its official OrcaSlicer profile. Describe the part with millimetres in the browser, on a phone or a computer, check it on a virtual bed the size of yours, and download G-code sliced for that printer (a .gcode.3mf for the Bambu Lab machines), or the STL or 3MF for your own slicer. The [live demo](/demo) (free, no account) gives you three AI edits on a real part; your own parts use credits, from $5 once with no subscription. [Enclosed vs open](/blog/enclosed-vs-open-3d-printer) covers whether you need the door at all, and [the first week](/blog/first-week-with-a-new-3d-printer) what to print once it arrives.

## The decision

If you print PLA and PETG and want the option of ASA later, the Centauri Carbon or the P1S. If you print ABS, ASA or nylon parts bigger than a fist, the Q1 Pro on a budget, the K2 Plus or the H2D at size. If you want an open platform you can repair, the CORE One.

## FAQ

### What is the difference between a passive and a heated chamber?

A passive chamber is warmed only by the bed and the hotend, which is enough for small and medium ABS and ASA parts. A heated chamber has its own heater and holds a set temperature (60 °C on the Qidi Q1 Pro and Creality K2 Plus, 65 °C on the Bambu Lab H2D), which large ABS and ASA parts and nylon need to stay flat.

### Which filaments need an enclosed 3D printer?

ABS, ASA, polycarbonate and nylon, for warping and fumes. PLA, PETG and TPU print fine on an open printer, and on an enclosed one most owners open the door for PLA so it cools properly.

### What is the cheapest enclosed 3D printer worth buying?

The Elegoo Centauri Carbon, which launched at $299 with a 256 mm cube, a hardened nozzle, a camera and an air filter. If you need a heated chamber for nylon or large ABS parts, the Qidi Q1 Pro launched at $449 with a chamber heated to 60 °C. Prices moved during 2025, so check the current price in your region.

### Is the Bambu Lab P1S enclosure heated?

No. The P1S has a passive chamber warmed by the bed and hotend, plus an auxiliary fan and a carbon filter. It handles ABS and ASA parts of moderate size; for large ones, or for nylon, a heated-chamber printer such as the Q1 Pro, K2 Plus or H2D is the safer choice.
